GABA rice is a popular & healthy rice eaten in Japan. GABA rice is germinated brown rice that contains a greater amount of the naturally-occurring gamma-aminobutryic acid. It is made by soaking the brown rice in water for an extended period of time, so that it germinates before cooking it. GABA (Gamma-aminobutryic acid), an amino acid that supports mental focus and alertness, GABA helps to manage brain impulses to help prevent you from becoming overstimulated or anxious. It also helps in nervous disorders such as depression and insomnia. Helps lower blood pressure, regulate blood sugar and prevent headaches. It has a low glycemic index.
Storage : Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. After opening keep in an airtight container.
Veg Gaba Kichidi
Ingredients : Serves – 2 people
Gaba Rice Rava – 1 cup
Moong dal – 1/2 Cup
Carrot – 1 or 2
Beans – 1/2 cup chopped
Potato – 1 or 2
Frozen peas – 1/4th Cup
Green chilli – 2
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp Salt – to taste
Kothmir – one bunch
Preparation : For Veg Gaba rice : Wash Gaba rice, pour 4 cups water to boil along with frozen peas and cook, then add pressure cooked carrot, beans, potato.
Dal : Pressure cook moong dal in 1 1/2 cup water for 4 whistles, smash add sufficient water and boil.
For seasoning : one table spoon pure cow ghee, heat this add cumin seeds, garlic when it turns brown add green chilli, 1 tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste, fry well and season this to dal. While boiling add chopped kothmir to dal.
